The Old Knowledge

I think buried in us is this sense that there is much more that we have lost in our ancient past....something that manifests as an interest in things like the lost civilizations of Atlantis, Mu, or that the pyramids are older than they are.  Its as though we want so badly to reach back into our collective memory for something....as though some great answer lies there.

Currently there is a big fascination with the Mayan calendar, and its hit such a nerve in us that its even tied up in our sense that the world is reaching some important "end" point and that something new is coming.  The Hopi happen to say much the same thing.  I had a memory from a past life at age 18 that was of a vision foretelling of a day in the future when I would be reborn as a new person, a time of great change, a time when the earth would be sick and be in need of cleansing. I was told that this would all happen as the being in the storm said, "When the Great Wheel comes full turn."  It was explained that I would know this life because I would remember the vision that was happening to me atop that mountain bluff back, I'd guess in the mid to late 1880's.  I have since been able to figure out that what I was experiencing  was a thunder being vision, that it involved issues related to clearing cleansing, and healing.  It also turns out that there are all sots of prophecies in Native lore about something called "The Cleansing Time."  So much of it I have been able to come to some understanding of because it seemed to me that this was an important message from the past to a future self. I always felt that the Great Wheel had something to do with a cycle of time, but I just didn't quite understand how it was connected. Until now.  I have felt that perhaps there is indeed something to the Mayan calendar, that all time has a cyclical nature to it, for certainly the Mayan calendar is itself an endless count of small and large cycles all repeating.  This, the ancient Maya, must have had some piece of knowledge about the very workings of time as part of some phenomenon about our  world that was entirely different from anything the Western mind had up until that point been able to conceive of. Its interesting, too, for the fact that most aboriginal cultures see time in a cyclical way.  On its self arrogating perch, the western mind has considered all of this nonsense, and brushed it all off with the notion that all of these cultures are primitive and thus their ideas are somehow intellectually stunted and not worth paying attention to.

There is a problem here, though, and it gets back to our fascination with the past.  My sense has been that there have been developments and rises of knowledge that have taken place that go way back into time, but that through the rise and fall of civilizations and political and theological shifts and conquests, that the great knowledge from our collective past has been obliterated except for a few straggling remnants.  The picture these remnants provide is very much at odds with what we in the western world have sanctioned and called consensus reality. I say that because our books and beliefs and everything else that we produce are based on models of the world that are linear, unconnected through the most basic of phenomenon here on earth. If the world shows us that things happen in cycles, like the turning of the galaxies, of solar systems, of planets around the sun, or electrons around an atom, then why does it seem so incredibly strange that our time here would be pegged or rise out of this phenomenon in an elegant fashion?  I think its because we as humans chose to pit ourselves against nature rather than trusting it.  The aboriginal people had a much more intimate relationship with nature and the tides and cycles of time as measured in natural phenomenon.

I just sat through a very long talk that Terence McKenna had made that was recorded back in 1990.  In it, he described how, on a mushroom trip, he was instructed by the mushroom being how he should look deeper at the I-Ching.  Terence was fascinated by this ancient divination method enough to analyze it.  This took place in the early 70's. He had this long interaction with this intelligence that kept prompting him and directing him towards something more, that the I-Ching was itself something different from what it appeared as merely a divination method.  Now the structure of the I-Ching as McKenna describes it during his discovery is quite complicated, but its also very simple, and elegant. He was told by this mushroom being that the I-Ching was a "map of time" and that this map was recursive, which means its more like a fractal than anything else.  This makes it cyclical rather than moving in a straight line. When I had my epiphany that the intelligence within the energy that is kundalini I saw how everything was interconnected through a very simple oscilation of two elements which we can call in and yang, but that I felt as the energies we know to be masculine and feminine.  Through them, I saw, all phenomenon emerged.  This made the nature of cells and tree leaves and solar systems all connected together in an unfolding design that was complex yet also simple.  So here was McKenna explaining how he saw that the I-Ching was part of an old system for understanding the universe.  For McKenna, he was able to develop a map of time that he was able to sync up to our own flow of time, using the end of the Mayan calendar as the reference point for the end of one major cycle as the way to go back some 6 billion years in time and watch as the system accurately showed all major geological changes and shifts on the planet. Based on what he found he discovered that his system fit perfectly with all major events through our known history with humans as well as the geological record that had an oscilation between what he described as essentially a movement towards a zero point and away from it.  This he describes as the wave-form nature of time.  This, he explains, we have been doing since forever, and that while his system does not predict actual events in specific, it does predict the waveform nature of time.  In his model, all of life in human terms is a movement away from and then back to what I call in my book Waveform Awareness.  This Waveform Awareness is our higher selves, that part of us that is not enmeshed in time as we think of it as physical beings, but is nonetheless a part of the phenomenon. In our history, then, we move from this state of profound knowing and increased creative output as we move closer to this field of the Wave but we become increasingly rational, more Particalized as we move away from it. I describe Particalized Awareness as our individual awareness, the pat of us that acts like a discreet soap bubble that tells us that we are separate and all that we know and see and feel is the result of what we experience through that soap bubble.  For that type of awareness, there is nothing else but a very materialistic view of the universe.  When I say materialistic, I am talking about this in the way that science is materialistic. A good example of this is that the world is merely here, that it is not the result of any higher form of consciousness directing it, and that life is the result of random interactions with compounds that clustered and managed to create life. My experience has been that there is indeed an intelligence within everything.  The world is not some empty parking lot full of chance happenings, but is instead so amazingly complex for how consciousness interpenetrates through everything that its more like living as a cell within a giant body than anything else.  This body is unimaginably huge, so huge in fact that what we see as distant stars is just the tip of the iceberg.  We are only seeing beyond the cell wall of our awareness the dendrites and capillaries that are the galaxies of this giant body that we live within. Just as an animal is a world unto itself with countless cells all living and dying and coming back again, so too are we specks in a much grander body.  I have to say that this makes much more sense to me than the materialistic view.

It turns out that what McKenna hit upon had a connection to the Mayan system, and this may be so because of the very likely fact that the Maya are in fact Asian or Chinese in descent.  When I took a course in Precolumbian art in college I can remember looking at the art forms and remarked at how amazingly they looked Chinese.  On top of this were all these sculptures of the people and there was a core of people at certain places that were totally Asian in appearance.  I could see how some of the cultures merged, and blended later, even.  It was so obvious even to me, who knew very little about Chinese culture but had seen enough to know that these pots and sculptures were a dead ringer for their Asian counterparts.  A learned PhD., our teacher, remarked that there was absolutely NO evidence for this culture having anything at all to do with the Chinese.  I can remember at the time just how silly this denial was.  Here this guy was leaning on those in academia who had themselves not been intellectually curious enough to consider the most obvious possibility.  And why not?  The Maya had an incredible developed system for counting time, of astronomy and math.  What if their knowledge was the result of a still older tradition that just happened to have come from another culture?  I am not suggesting that the Maya owed their greatness to another culture at all, but simply that the Chinese may have been seafaring at some point in their development, perhaps thousands of years ago, and in the cycling of time and through conquests, had fallen from a still greater height.  Why not?  Some would say there is no evidence for this, no records, no stored boats to attest tot he greatness of this period in their history.  It turns out that there is one such example, a commander for the Chinese emperor did in fact exist and I include it here mostly to make an important point, less about that the Chinese may have been here and that the Maya were influenced by them, but as an example of just how short sighted we can be in imagining it possible that such a thing could take place in the first place.

Depicted to the right is a comparison of one Admiral Zheng's massive treasure junks to the Santa Maria that carried Columbus. He used these ships under the service of the Chinese emperor in an effort to explore the vast chinese empire of the middle ages and to bring wealth back to the emperor. Zheng He was a muslim eunuch who eventually became commander of the Chinese Navy as his master, the emperor Yongle, ascended through the ranks of the chinese nobility. The first of his six voyages was in 1402 and by the end of his sixth he had sailed west around the Indian ocean all the way to the coast of Africa and brought vast amounts of gold for the emperor. (1 pg 1-2)

Chinese naval technology was well advanced over that of the Europeans. By the 11th century they had a fleet of ocean going junks which were extremely sea worthy. They were also immense as the picture above shows. They could reach well over 400 feet and be over 150 feet wide. There were several decks below the main deck and several decks above at the stern of the ship. They were typically complemented with a crew of any where between 450-700 members and they remain some of the largest wooden vessels ever built. They were able to handle deep ocean weather due to their very deep, sharp keel which gave them more stability, that fact combined with water tight compartments made for a very sturdy ship. However, even with all their technological adaptations during their first expeditions they never sailed very far from land though there is solid evidence that they sailed all the way to the eastern coast of Africa and possibly even Australia. (1) Thus it seems the only limitation to Chinese exploration was the tenacity and daring of their leaders , however, recent evidence seems to suggest that they may have been much more daring than anyone dare believe.

There have tails among the aborigines of Australia for centuries about a group of people who came before either the Indonesians or the Europeans called the Baijini. The legend tells of a people of light golden-colored skin which seems to be a fairly accurate description of an asian complexion. They came and stayed for period of about six months hunting and fishing as well as planting fields of rice. Also their homes were made from stone and bark which is uncharacteristic of the Indonesians.  In addition anchors have been discovered off the coast of Australia that fit the design of those known to have been used by the Chinese. There are also Chinese tails that involve creatures whose descriptions seem to point to wildlife characteristic of Australia.  These items are just a small part of a great deal of evidence that seems to prove that China had discovered Australia long before any other group which means that the Chinese may have not been as
limited to sailing along coasts as first thought. (2)

The article goes on to explain that there is an account made by this Commander that fits very well with a description of the coast of California.  Given the sheer size of these craft, it was possible to have vast amounts of food stores aboard that could take them just about anywhere in the world.  But why haven't we seen any of these ships?  Why is this such a great mystery to the contemporary world?  When the emperor Yongle died, his predecessor ordered the fleet burned and all evidence of its existence wiped from the record.  What we have is a copy of a document that describes what happened back in the 1400's. But if it happened in the 1400's then why not earlier?  Australian Aborigines  have stories of golden skinned people who lived among them long enough to hunt and fish and to grow rice. These same people lived in stone houses, which were different from the ones the Aborigines knew about.  There have been anchors discovered off the coast of Australia that fit the design of the Chinese anchors, for example.

The Olmec were the earliest group of people that had the greatest Asian or Chinese features.  In the sculpture I include, carved from green jade (which coincidentally the Chinese have esteemed for centuries just as the Olmec, Aztec, and Maya did), you can perhaps see why I felt that this had, at the very least, a few influences of the Asian variety.

All of this also points to a corollary between the I-Ching, the Maya, and how similar McKenna's discovery was in relationship to the concept of cyclical time as evidenced in both Mayan and Chinese systems. I mention this is a vivid example of how people within academia as well as in the scientific research often get settled in their notions of what is based on what they have been told for years, essentially the same kind of indoctrination that happens in religion, and then by way of that become brittle and inflexible in their imaginations so that they are unable to consider new opinions, ideas, or possibilities.  IN a post further down I include artifacts that scientists call problematica, so called because what they do is shelve these things and ignore them because they offer a total contradiction to the popularly held views which I contend is treated no differently than a dogma is. It enshrined and if anyone comes along to question it, its as though the hive mentality sparks and there are bees buzzing around that hive ready to protect something that ought not even be protected.  Its a very curious trait that we have in this way.  But I mention it to highlight how things can and very likely are very different from how we have imagined them in all of our theories and presumptions based on what we have thus far found in fossil records, archaeological digs, and historical accounting of our past.  What I am also pointing to in providing this article is the possibility that the Chinese and other people (there is the idea that there is also an African influence as evidence in the Olmec ball player heads cared out of massive pieces of basalt which have features that are specific to African Peoples).  The idea is that it entirely reasonable t consider, I think, that the Mayan calendar, the I-Ching as McKenna discovered it, these all  could have been part of a still older system of knowledge, available to us now only as remnants, not completely understood for what they are or what they are pointing at. This was all gathered, most likely through careful observation and record keeping over long periods of time in order to develop systems that corresponded so closely to real world events.  Somewhere someone had a giant a-ha moment when they began to see odd correlations between the movement of the planets, the solar phenomenon, as well as planetary processional effects which take some time to happen and would need to be recorded over long time frames. Its also likely that one would not have had to take records over hundreds of thousands of years in McKenna's system, but only a cycle or two of time.  Its also possible that the system was discovered in ways more akin to how McKenna discovered it, which was while munching mushrooms and tripping in the forests of South America.

I suspect that we do indeed know that there was more in our history, but that we have somehow managed to lose all memory of it as the veil of this oscillation of time has had its effect on us.

The concept that McKenna puts forward about this being a cycle repeating fits perfectly for how many others are coming to the same conclusion on their own, that there is a spiraling happening through history where events do repeat, where Great Wheels come full turn, but that at each point of the turning of the wheel, we are at a different place.  Instead of a cycle merely repeating, its more like a vine that is growing and spiraling upwards toward the light of day with certain recurring things happening such as a stem during each turn of the vine, and from that stem there are a certain numerical range of leaves that tend to sprout and while none of this is rigid in its expression, it serves as a kind of template for life, for time, and perhaps the whole of phenomenon here on the planet. A spiral is in fact an elegant solution for how to think of this, that at each recursion, or repetition, while certain factors remain the same, there is also evolutionary change in some fashion or another. All of this seems built upon an ordered hologram where the information is coded into everything else as this whole body of life springs forth.  Yes, there is this sense of destiny that is perhaps expressed as a result of this recursive phenomenon, but destiny is also capable of growing beyond what it was yesterday instead of remaining static.  Its a growing living thing, and time is an expression of this as we move from the zero point of the Waveform Awareness towards a Particalized Awareness, all of which fits how we move from imaginative and hip and creative to stodgy and linear and limited and even warlike. Its as though we are moving away from our eternal natures and away from the realm of spirit into a place where we feel as though we are somehow alienated from all of life.  According to McKenna, these cycles are waves within waves, interference patterns from the larger realm of time that effects other cycles as they hit upon countless coincidences (to coincide) of other times that were along the same arc.  So in this method or model, it turned out that the end of the great Roman emperors corresponded with the end of Ronald Reagan's presidency, with a subsequent fall of Rome later, which as it turns out corresponds to what we are headed towards now. it isn't that someone like Reagan will BE an emperor, but that there will be tides and similarities that will tend to influence events and people along certain lines. Events will themselves be recursive because of the energy involved in how time is being formed and rolled out.  I suspect that instead of seeing all of this as linear, we would instead see a very visual image of something that would look more like a map of waves, a kind of psychedelic pattern much more like an eastern mandala than anything a scientific mind could think up.  And this would make sense since those who saw into the mystery of the world were those people who were grooving with the wave awareness themselves for the simple fact that the Wave has the ability to move you out of your individual awareness and into a sense of the All.

The difference here, though, is that this All-ness is available to us NOW.  With so many waking up, with people feeling as though the veil is thinning, its no wonder that this wave of awareness is building.  What I am suggesting is that we can use these cycles to bring ourselves to a new place, to learn the secrets of this wave as part of our own physiology as a cell caught up within its vastness.  When we do, we "awaken."  All of this experience has a corollary with what I would call a class of experiences in human experience, and all have a transcendant quality to them.  For McKenna, he experienced it through the liberating effect of the mushroom and dmt experiences.  In tantra, we connect into the All through the energetics of this divine pulse that is in everything.  The force of kundalini is itself naturally tantric because it leads us into that place of bliss, of union with a "body" of awareness that cycles like the moon has cycles, how heavenly bodies come close and then move far from each other.  Its part of a larger oscillation of a reality that isn't material but alive, an incredibly complex yet also simple life form that lives in everything from rocks to cells. The idea here is that as we move away from this bliss field we wind up in all our institutions, falling prey to the idea that the rational mind has it all figured out.  This though only one part of the bigger picture, and if  we fall prey to its force in life, we allow it to bring about some pretty horrible changes as a result of our feeling separate and apart from not just each other, but from our waveform awareness which is the bliss and joy and sense of connection that everything has. I am not content to merely study this but to suggest that we can use our understanding of how this works to vault ourselves out of the hole we seem to keep falling into.

I suspect that the being in the vision I had at age 18 was simply pointing to a knowledge or understanding that all time turned in cycles.  Perhaps in the culture of that time they too knew about the "great wheel" as it was called. Sadly, that culture has been completely wiped out and subsumed within another tribe over a hundred and 20 years ago, so I am not sure there is anything remaining that would tell me one way or the other whether they had this term in their culture. For me, though, I think the guessing is over.  Clearly, we ARE nearing the end of a giant cycle, a very important one.  If I follow what the vision was telling me, I take away from it some important elements about what it is that we need to do as a species. At the very least, I know what I have to do microcosmically, and its all very interesting in terms of just how much we have been provided in the way of tools to prepare for this event that us upcoming. As a result, I see there are no accidents, but a willful desire to prepare, to grow, to become.  This is the impulse in everyone as we learn to drop the self made conceptual shackles that we have chosen to imprison ourselves with.  In this new world, the water is great; come on and jump in!  Its really not that hard once you give it a try.

So much of what I have been saying is that what we need very much to do is not to go for one end of the spectrum or the other, but to learn how to integrate both ends of the spectrum into our experience so that when one wave rises over another, we do not feel as though we are being swept along a path that leads us to annihilation, or to madness. We need both.  For the same reason I find that a reliance upon the scientific materialistic model is just as wrong-headed as the monks who say we have to toss out all ego and pretend like its dead and gone. These are merely, to my mind, just opposite ends of the same wave and instead of letting them be separate, we need to recognize them for what each imparts and find a balance between them. Otherwise, we will get so caught up in the rational that we will go mad for looking at the tiny cells in a tree leaf and never see the larger forest standing in front of us.  Its this same narrowness that leads to nature suffering.  We look so close at one phenomenon that we are unable to see how our actions in the moment could have a negative effect on the whole.  We can likewise get so blissed out that we effectively leave this world for that place of pure bliss and never really participate in this experiment that is life on the planet. Surely the confluence of events today where we multitask and do not have time to sit in silent meditation in an ashram has its positive effect on us in this regard.  By balancing both ends of the spectrum, we reach upwards into that evolutionary spiral that is our own future.

Now as an aside, Mckenna, in the recording from 1990 stated that since the calendar ends in 2012, he posits that perhaps what has happened is that we discover time travel and that this would explain why his model also comes to an end.  We, he suggests, have exited the cycle of time so that we are now no longer prisoners of this oscillation but become part of something more.  This would be an entering of the 5th dimension in all truth I suppose, and whether his notion is correct or not, I think that it hits it into the right ballpark.  If all of this phenomenon is correct as he has seen it to be, then it makes sense that the end of the same system would suggest that something happened of a pretty significant nature that somehow also involves time itself.  I suspect that its because we finally catch the wave of this hyper spatial reality that has always lived inside of us and that we have managed to hitch a permanent ride on it. The Hopi describe two paths that will happen, what some suggest are two different time lines.  One leads upwards while another leads on a jagged lower course. I suspect that we are coming into contact with a choice and some will make one choice while another will make a different one.  I wont say one is better or more desirable, but will simply match where you are  at the time.  The absolutist notions that Christianity has helped to promulgate in the past of there being a hell that you are forever imprisoned within doesn't seem to help some people's notions of how things work. It isn't like this is some race that we must win in a certain way.  We are here to learn, and as McKenna suggests, there are endless cycles of time and if not now, another will come along eventually if the last phase inward didn't help us realize what it was we needed to in order to reach the highest within ourselves. And just as each transit from one cycle tends to create a sense like the world is coming to an end, Terence suggested back in the 90's to simply sit back, relax, and let the wave hit you and do its work. In effect, this is what those who awaken learn to do in their daily living with this; they surrender.  Its just possible that if you just let go and trust what the wave is doing, you will give it more room to work.  Don't fight it. Give in to all of that bliss, the joy and wonder that is inside of you, for it is here that the universe opens up like a wonderful flower.  In you. Outside you. Its all around, waiting.....

Note:  I will add that one of the effects of Awakening is a very different perception of time.  I say this because I experienced very strange time phenomenon the year before all of this began for me.  Later, once I had worked through a large part of material so that I was less focused on immediate things, I discovered a different view of how time is.  This will have to be the subject of another post, but its worth mentioning as McKenna intuited that the 2012 event may have something to do with time....

The Abydos Helicopter - A Question Of Geometry

In Egypt there is a Temple in Abydos to Seti I also known as the Great Temple of Abydos.  While not the oldest of the buildings in Abydos, its origin dates back to 1290 to 1279 BC,  The temple was begun by Seti and finished by his Son Ramses the Great.   There are numerous temples and buildings in this area which was  called Abdu by the Egyptians and then Abydos by the Greeks.  A number of Pharonic dynasties made their mark here, building temples and burial chambers to their kings.

Its also the place of a great mystery that has troubled Egyptologists for a number of years and has excited onlookers who are able to see what appear to be a whole series of flying machines on a lintel above one of the columns in the Great Temple. I say "appear" because Egyptologists seek to explain that this is NOT what these images suggest at all, but are instead the result of two or more layers of stone that have fallen away from each other in order to create a composite image, effectively an accidental image.  According to Egyptologists, this is not something that exists as it appears.  During tours of the temple, this one interesting element is not pointed out to visitors.  There seems that there is a policy in place to simply ignore this aspect of the structure.

The explanation by leading Egyptologists is that the markings that look like a helicopter, glider and perhaps hovercraft of some kind, is that the details were the result of plaster falling off the surface of the stone which had been placed over to hide the markings underneath by a succeeding dynasty.  The argument made by Egyptologists is that these craft are merely the result of chaotic forces, of chance, creating an illusion of something that simply isn't there.  This is something that Egyptologists call a palimpsest.

New Note 2/13:  The argument that they make is that this is actualy a composite image, the result of two layers showing through resulting in this accidental result.  Damage or loss of layers is also part of the argument.  It was caused by accident/chaotic forces.  The other issue involves the glyph of the hand in the upper right corner.  Its called a hand by scholars, and while it does look like a hand, there is one very troubling issue with it, which is that there are NO KNOWN glyphs showing the hand that are as stretched or distorted as this one at Abydos.  All hand glyphs show a specific proportion, and the "hand" in the above hieroglyphic is over twice the length of a normal hand!

Below is a standard glyph of a hand with a comparison of the glyph at Abydos.
the hieroglyph d doesn't fit the glyph
the hand hieroglyph is not a good fit here

The argument is that this is all accidental, and we are just seeing something that does not exist except in composite or the result of damage.  Inscriptions were made on the lintel and then were covered with plaster to alter what was underneath to some degree. When the plaster fell off the stone inscriptions, it resulted in changes to the structure beneath.  Sometimes there is a blending of imagery that can make one believe they are seeing something that just isn't there.  I am going to include in this post some very interesting geometric analysis of the above image done by Jiri Mruzek which I think you will find compelling

Above:  images of the flower of life on vertical slab at Osirian Temple.

Above:  closeup of the Flower of Life inscription.

For more information on this interesting image and the many other forms that can be derived from it (such as the Kabalah's Tree of Life) go here.

It is worth noting, as an aside, that at an adjacent building, older than The Great Temple, is a smaller temple built to honor Osiris.  It is in this building that an image of the Flower of Life can be seen.  What is interesting about this image is that it shows up all over the world.  Its seen on the robes of monks in zen monestaries in Japan, it shows up in Europe and is in Egypt.  What's even more interesting is that when the Flower of Life design is expanded beyond its traditional border, a 3-D image of a cube emerges, often called Metatron's Cube.  This is a series of spheres that serve to make not a flat pattern but a cube which is made up of a number of circular cells.  To add to this, some are now claiming that the image etched onto the stone is done without the aid of pigment or dyes, but is actually etched somehow INTO the stone itself.  Other sources explain that the image emerges as a result of the use of a red ochre, a very stable colorant used in ancient times.   Some feel that this is a model of something, a form of geometry that contains presently unknown information about the structure of something....but what, we aren't sure.  Was it meant to be a teaching tool for understanding consciousness, or was it a tool or mathematical model to help describe how energy and matter interact?  Within the flower of life the five platonic solids can be found, so it could have been a way of containing a broad range of information in one form that was so esteemed, that it has shown up all over the world (except North or South America)

The assumption most often being made about such advanced technology is that if the knowledge for building airplanes and other air ships  were developed in the ancient past, why haven't we found evidence of it? Why no flying machines being dug up in the desert or in a temple somewhere?  Its a valid question, and can perhaps be explained by saying that the images here in Abydos may have been the result of still more ancient technology, perhaps only available in drawings  or scrolls that were themselves ancient which have since been lost to time.   It is possible that this was part of something much older than those doing the decorating or inscribing.  There may be reasons that just are not clear to us as to the why.  However, the emergence of this material is itself a possible proof for airships, even if we do not find any actual airships.  There are stories emerging from India that describe air machines, constructed vehicles called Vimanas that were used to fly all over the earth and out into the celestial realm.

Consider that in India there is a book referred to as the Ramayana which describes Vimana as a double-deck, circular aircraft with portholes and a dome on its top.  It was described as flying with the speed of the wind and made a melodious sound.  Ancient texts on VImana are very numerous.  The ancient Indians wrote what amounted to flight manuals on the the control of various types of Vimanas.  There were four types of these craft:  the Shakuna, Sundara, Rukma, and Tripura Vimana.  At the very least, these accounts are very curious.  There is nothing about the accounts that would suggest that these books or writings were done in any kind of jest, a kind of ancient science fiction, that we can tell. For many, they are set aside as mere curiosities (perhaps because what they could represent is too troublesome to contemplate.

It turns out, though, that other airships have emerged in other parts of the world, too, and there are some important elements that serve to lift these objects above mere fantastical models or delightful bird jewelry.  In South America, several craft in the form of medallions and jewelry show delta winged craft.  Realize that a delta wing craft bears no resembelance to a bird, but is something that emerged as a result of our own development of motorized flight in the last 100 years, and is one of the few ways to properly stabilize the rear portion of the plane and help it to steer properly through the air.  No bird has this device as part of their flying apparatus.  The forms from South America show an open cockpit, windshield, wings and the delta wing in the back.  When scanned and built to scale in the current day by a group of interested engineers, their model took off and flew on its first flight!  So on the one hand, we may not have an intact craft to point to, but we do have some very fascinating images as well as miniatures that are all extremely specific to the engineering requirements for flight.  Understanding how a delta wing operates would very likely require a working vehicle and not just a model in order to refine the development of the rear wing orientation.  It would be difficult to develop a model since it would likely involve a series of strings that would allow the individual to pull the model so it could attain the lift needed for flight and then to have another string (actually two in all likelihood) for turning the rear tail section to see how it would affect turning in flight.

If you would like to see images of these planes, you can go to this post written last year about the same issue, but with less depth than this article.  Planes.  (this link will open a new window in your browser so you do not lose your place on the blog)

What follows is the analysis by Mruzek, describing how proportions emerge throughout the objects, more than just suggesting that the work was more than the result of an accident whereby some material was destroyed while other portions remained, creating a composite, which is called a  palimpsest

Egyptians Knew the Golden Section - Reconstruction as Proof

Contrary to being chaotic, the Abydos Helicopter scene is a deliberate creation. Its order is of the highest magnitude, being based on the historically famous Golden Section. The palimpsest explanation is simply out of the question, because one can just fire up a CAD program, and easily recreate the area under the helicopter in its exact main proportions from memory. The engraving utilizes Geometry, and the layout of the area is a variation on the basic Golden Section, wih emphasis on Golden Rectangles. The measure of ability to produce a given item measures understanding of that item. Pure opinions are hard to measure.
To begin with, golden rectangles in the area are quite auspicious, and beg testing.
To test the area under the helicopter for golden section proportions I had assumed the semicircle's diameter as the starting unit for the construction below.

1 -
a unit (semi)circle
2 -
an axis

Above - The semicircle in the glyph looks quite true, when tested by a circle.

The usual construction begins with the six operations, or steps, as shown above. Circles '4', and '5' help in obtaining the axial cross, and are discarded afterwards. After this we have a choice of two operations, which will produce the Φ-ratio in the position. The diagram below uses the big green circle concentric with the red circle.
The yellow circle represents the glyphic semicircle, and becomes the red circle in the diagram below. The green circle from above is replaced by the blue square below.

the classic Golden Section construction
The diagram of the classic Golden Section was imported into the Abydos image by scaling the unit circle to the semicircle in the image. As seen below, this experiment worked like a charm.

We are looking at the proof that the glyphs are proportioned by the Golden Section along the horizontal axis. The area under the helicopter is sectioned by vertical lines into Î¦ proportions.

If the semi-circle's radius counts as 1 then the
breadth of the row of six columns on the horizontal axis is (Φ²)  2.618..  From the semi-circle to the left on the axis
we see successively the distances of
  0.5  ←→ 0.5 ←→ Φ-1 (0.618..)   ←→  Î¦-1 x Î¦-1 (0.381966..)   ←→ Φ-1

and combined distances like

    1   ←→  Î¦ (1.618..)   ←→  2   ←→    Î¦² ( 2.618..)

Above - A square divided by golden grid
The square that we employed for the Golden Section turns out to fit the square formation of columns, and triangles.
To get to its present location,
the square rotates 45 degrees, and slides to the area's boundary on the left. Then it slides down, until the x-axis becomes the square's upper Golden Section divide (below).

the square is inscribed in a circle with a diameter of two Units

The square fits the glyphic square of columns, and triangles very well on three sides, but we do see a bit of imprecision at the top. But, this is amply made up for by the accuracy of the Φ-rectangles within this square.
Here, it should be pointed out that it is the triangles, which give us the width of the square, and actuate the golden  proportion. According to Egyptologists' chronology, the columns came first, but according to the reconstruction by the Golden Section, the points of the square had been given  before any corresponding columns could be created

The columns and triangles form golden ratios

Horizontal lines from
E, and F, with the vertical line from H, divide the square into golden sections. The lines are set by both the top and bottom of the middle triangle row,  the upper columns, and by the upper edges of the inner rectangles at bottom left . The square as above contains no less than eight Golden Rectangles, plus corresponding squares. All fit the layout of the engraved square really well.

• Two big golden rectangles: horizontal width = 2.618..units, height = 1.618 units
• Golden rectangles based on the unit circle (base 1 unit long, height 0.618)

We can recreate the golden rectangle limiting the area under the helicopter, because its left bottom corner coincides with the square's corner. The big rectangle from under the helicopter just happens to also be the perfect container for the upper two craft on the right, as well, if we see the plane as transporting a suspended object.  The plane's horizontal axis, which seems engraved in, is at the same time a Golden Section line for the rectangle.
The rectangle on the left contains five smaller golden-rectangles, and they all fit the engraving. The entire area under the helicopter forms a perfect Golden Rectangle, when t
he helicopter's belly rests upon the upper line of the rectangle, although it's hard to see at this resolution. Fortunately, this marvellous [sic] fit is easy to see in the blow-up below.

You can see the entire analysis that Mruzek makes here

I wanted to include the proportional data here to suggest the possibility that there is more to this than meets the eye....or DOES meet the eye!  I think its a fascinating possibility.  For myself, I do not buy into the ET hypothesis.  Why can't humans come up with this stuff?  Why must it always come from off the planet? We essentially have the same brain as we had three thousand years ago, and even seven thousand and longer....so it stands to reason that while we might not have had the technology as a result of the particular arc of how civilization had developed up to a certain point, this doesn't preclude the possibility that we HAD developed all kinds of technology in our distant past, with most evidence of it having been destroyed.  When I hear the argument about the physical evidence, I can understand, but some things aren't so strange....dynasties destroy the great works of their predecessors, and remarkable things can wind up on the dust heap...

Our Ancient Past

We often bemoan how the world seems set on telling us what it is we want.  There is truth to this.  There is truth to how our world serves to keep ingrained old ways of being and thinking. Its a self perpetuating system of collective energetics.  Its one reason why the tide of awakenings on the planet is so hopeful and encouraging to me.  When the collective being begins to move then we can all potentially benefit. Just as there is an awakening with one person and their kundalini energy, imagine the entire collective itself awakening, resonating at a higher vibration.

Companies through time have sought to find ever more effective ways to sway opinion as well as belief.  They will bend belief, knowing they can. They play on our rawest of emotions.  This happens not just on Wall Street but in government as well.  Why else would a peaceful person be moved to blood lust and be in support of, say, an invasion force in a foreign country? If you are quiet and dispassionate and able to step back and then look back at past campaigns (we have one every presidency now) you can see how the sell went.  And its very much a sell.  Never mind that most, if not all, of these campaigns are based on a fiction or the result of our efforts through the covert state to make things appear a certain way (U.S. govt -via CIA- funded and backed Al Qaeda, for instance).

To do all of this means suppressing or distorting the truth.  The process that this takes is often not just an honest breaking of the truth into little pieces so it can be reformed into some other kind of shape but is often simply bent slowly over time in a person's mind until they begin to believe the new version themselves.  The psyche WANTS to believe its doing right and if it can somehow justify this, the self feels more settled and at peace.  Easily you can see just how insane this all is, and yet, its part of our coping mechanisms as a species.  Its how we all can get brain-washed and believe in the most amazing stories or take the most outrageous positions. There is an entire system within our world that works on keeping your opinions formed according to what they want. It involves control of information so that what you get from the very beginning is faulted or slanted in their direction.  It means creating events from the very start that appear a certain way.  With the help of corporate media who is willing to tow the line of certain elites, government and corporations work together---this is what we call fascism folks---in forwarding an agenda that is FOR the government and corporations but not for the PEOPLE. David Rockefeller was quoted in the minutes of a group meeting of the major media outlets not so long ago thanking the likes of Time, Newsweek and others for NOT reporting on certain news, news that would have been harmful to his efforts at building a New World Order  This meeting took place in 1991 at Baden Baden Germany and at the time his words were proved prophetic as he said that  “… it would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government …”

In breaking away from such a mind set is important in order that we are able to see with clear eyes how this system of control has sought to perpetuate itself at the very highest levels of our business and government.  It is nothing less than an effort to preemptively seek to maintain the same control which has been the  the legacy of our world for countless generations.  These are the same people who seek to push governments into war because war is so profitable.  These are the same people who would sell their own families down the river if they thought it would net them a profit.  Michael Moore said this so succinctly in an interview with the producers of the documentary The Corporation where he said the only reason why they let his movies air is because the elite he is railing against actually thinks that they can make some money off the rope they are selling him, the very rope he uses to hang them with.

Constantly this effort at selling a certain slant of the truth goes on every day.  This happens in a successful way because people themselves are unwilling or unable to listen to their own inner voice and heed instead the voice of authority, of the government, or institution (club, civic organization or religion).  This happens also because people are told to trust their government and these very institutions run by people who have such a slanted view or seek to present slanted or twisted views of how things are. This is how  books that would have been in the bible were kept out.  Some of these books dealt with the concept of healing the whole self, the role of the masculine and feminine in the self as part and parcel of reaching the "kingdom."  Instead, these books were in their time pronounced heretical and were ordered burned along with their sponsors just after that august meeting at Nicea.  It was only because some well preserved copies of these books were discovered in 1945 in the desert at Nag Hammadi.  All of this sounds crazy at first to people when they read it or hear it, but when you study some of these works with a sound eye towards understanding how important it is for us to heal ourselves as part of reaching a better place (and some of the books in the Nag Hammadi point to a way of doing this) but perhaps there is a reason why in our time these books were discovered.  Perhaps we are ready, perhaps its time.

Gandhi once said that  with any new idea "first they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."  In the mean time we continue to work against a tide of resistance which is the human mind, configured whether naturally or through artifice, in order to reach the natural and true fundamentals of truth.  And what are these?  Maybe part of our world is that its a lot stranger than we might want to admit or believe.  By pointing to just about every unusual building that seems impossible to us to have built, Erik Von Daniken in his books created a sensationalized approach to our unusual world.  And to his benefit I would say that absent full knowledge all we have are theories.  For example, its becoming clearer that we had an understand of fixed winged aircraft to the point that we created models of them which show up in the archeological record.  Some have seemed to show up at the temple of Abydos in a rather surprising kind of way.  There, along the lintel of the temple are a cluster of images, almost all of which look to depict a series of aircraft.  Not just one.  One we might be able to dismiss as simply coincidental but representing something else entirely. But at Abydos we have much more than just one. Wat we find is a string of them, all objects that can very easily be seen as aircraft.  One image of this lintel is below:

Our history is not one that is well understood. The image above was discovered in 1848, long before we had helicopters or jet aircraft.  They weren't given a second look until the early 1990's.  Recently, according to news reports, yet another series of images were discovered of helicopters at the  Amon Ra Temple in Karnak.  In researching this story, I was not able to find any images even though a number of writers mentioned the same story. The historians' efforts to explain this is that the carvings are the result of an optical illusion resulting from older carvings being revealed from a still deeper section of the lintel.  The idea here is that there were still more carvings underneath the carvings and it was an effective blending of two images that created the look of a helicopter and other aircraft.

There are still other examples of this unusual past where things may well have been quite different from what we have thought.

A succinct article from the web site forbidden history it states:

"In 1954 the government of Colombia sent part of its collection of ancient gold artifacts on a U. S. tour. Emmanuel Staubs, one of America's leading jewelers, was commissioned to cast reproductions of six of the objects. Fifteen years later one was given to biologist-zoologist Ivan T. Sanderson for analysis. After a thorough examination and consulting a number of experts, Sanderson's mind-boggling conclusion was that the object is a model of a high-speed aircraft at least a thousand years old. Approximately 2 inches long the object was worn as a pendant on a neck chain. It was classified as Sinu, a pre-Inca culture from A.D. 500 to 800. Both Sanderson and Dr. Arthur Poyslee of the Aeronautical Institute of New York concluded it did not represent any known winged animal. In fact, the little artifact appears more mechanical than biological. For example, the front wings are delta-shaped and rigidly straight edged, very un-animal-like. The rudder is perhaps the most un-animal but airplane-like item. It is right-triangle, flat-surfaced, and rigidly perpendicular to the wings. Top view Only fish have upright tail fins, but none have exclusively an upright flange without a counter-balancing lower one. Adding to the mystery, an insignia appears on the left face of the rudder, precisely where ID marks appear on many airplanes today. The insignia is perhaps as out-of place as the gold model itself, for it has been identified as the Aramaic or early Hebrew letter beth or B. This may indicate that the original plane did not come from Colombia, but was the product of a very early people inhabiting the Middle East who knew the secret of flying."[1]

Some of these pieces look like this:

Another link on this same site yields an array of unexplainable artifacts such as machined objects like nails and screws encased in limestone, whose layers date back millions of years. There are stories like the one of the silver cup that had stylized floral decorations all around its side discovered in strata that was hundreds of millions of years old.

When I was a college student the mother of a friend who I went to school with explained that her father who was mining coal in West Virginia was amazed to find that they had uncovered a layer of coal that revealed a set of tire prints that went off into the distance. Everyone stood around scratching their heads at this hard to explain anomaly. Finally after a few hours of this, the foreman ordered the tracks taken up and work commenced in the mine. The foreman explained this action as saving everyone from losing out on months worth of work in the mine since they would be required to have archaeologists come in to examine the find and this could take a lot of time. Now this is only a story that I am passing on to you.

When we deal with the issue of these hard to explain artifacts we inevitably cross a confluence of differing currents. First we have arrogance. Never underestimate the power of human arrogance. We proclaim only humans have a soul, and thus the animals we slaughter for our food do not feel. We proclaim through the same arrogance that human advancement has only been significant in the last hundred years or so. Anything before that, and we were merely squalid peasants living in the muck.

This kind of assumption is of course short sighted, yet many of our most learned people jump to it. We have airplanes that clearly ARE airplanes yet because we have no other evidence of their being airplanes in ancient history, we HAVE to call them fish, or birds, or misunderstood or misconstrued anomalies. Or we can consider that our history has only been partly told and that through the ages our documents have been lost. There was a cataclysm that resulted in a giant flood that brought Noah his fame, and when we look into the geology of this event it looks like an incredibly sudden and cataclysmic event. This was enough to push cities near the water under the sea. Perhaps the idea of an advanced civilization existing was more than just a happy myth. Perhaps as some suggest, the earth's axis shifted physically (not just magnetically as has been happening lately) which set into motion a frozen north that was decidedly tropical.  We have found animals fast frozen with tropical plants in their mouths as they were caught quite suddenly by a fast freeze, herds of these animals all in mid-run.

This results in an even weirder thing happening; we take anomalies and ascribe nearly impossible theories instead of just using Occams Razor, which states that all things being equal, usually the simplest explanation is the one that fits.  Instead airplanes that are later reverse engineered are found will fly flawlessly without any "futzing" with the details.  We find a Roman coins and other objects in the New World long before Columbus

Our history is more interesting than anything we probably could even come up with on our own.  One thing I do know in my bones; we will continue to come forward with forgotten knowledge until it finds its way into the mainstream.  The problem with human beings on the planet right now is that the need to control people is seen as all important.  You see it everywhere.   Our media tells us what we want.  Many of our wants are dictated less by our true selves as someone on Wall Street who has products to sell.  When we can shift our awareness to bringing to people what they themselves want, we will maybe get somewhere.  But wait.....some will say all you have to do is look to youtube to see that the world is full of people who express what they want and the high water mark is not that high!  There is a lot of complaining and slamming of other people.  And I think you should expect that with a population as out of sorts with itself as it is.  Lots of grumbling.  Lots of jealousy, anger, and even hurt.  But daily what happens on television is we are seduced by what it is we see.  This form of seduction drives a false sense of want.  If you step back for five minutes and think about what REALY is important to you, you might just find a very different picture.  As different perhaps as the official story fed to us about 9/11 or Egypt and South America and our ancient history and what very likely happened in all truth.  Understand, I don't think it takes a conspiracy for any of this to happen. This kind of thing happens in every moment.  Its a tendency we as humans have that I think we need to work on weeding out of our code of behaviors.  We need to begin a period where we listen to ourselves and know that the answer lies within.

So here we are.  We are here with all of this incredible confabulation ready to jump quantum-like into something that will be all the more amazing for the fact that what we are about to step into can't be explained with what we have learned in our current world.  So much has been submerged, so much hidden.  So now its time for this period to reveal a deep mystery and this mystery resides within us and within all of matter. It might be a little easier if we are more honest with ourselves, which is that we are everybit as intelligent today as we were ten thousand years ago, the only difference is the ACCUMULATION of knowledge....facts, figures, research.  History has shown as with the Mastadon that things can happen so fast that an animal can go extinct as it runs with grass in its mouth away from the perceived threat and then frozen like that in polar ice.  Could entire civilizations been wiped out just like this? Could, within just a few generations, the memory of a flying ship be forgotten.  If a flying ship was made by one ruler and then ordered destroyed by another, you can BET that a full court press was made to make sure history never remembered any of his or her predecessors achievements.  I am saying this this way because this same scenario has already happened with what may be one of the biggest discoveries of naval history, which was that China had one of the most advanced seafaring navies in the world at a time when Europe was little more than a backwater culturally.  China had a fleet that went to Australia, the Coast of California and South America.  Its a little known fact that was hushed up by an emperor who sought to destroy all evidence of his predecessor and nearly succeeded.    You can read all about it in another blog entry on this site which is HERE.

The world is a wild place.  Amazing, really.  Its waiting to become that garden again.....
