The Myth Makers

When we think about the traditions that have preceded us in our lives, I think we tend to look up to these as established, sometimes even larger-than-life figures.  Myths, which are ancient, are like this.  They get told against a background of high-flying images that capture and engage our imaginations.  We have centaurs, gods who change forms as in Greek myths, and a vast panoply of images and beings that express all kinds of aspects of who and what we are.  In a way religions are a bit like this in how they get stuck or are installed in our sense of the collective awareness of humankind. We often think of these as always having been, and yet, each one of them has at one time or another, been entirely created out of thin air.

Before centaurs, there were no centaurs.  Before Leda and the Swan, there was no Leda and there was no swan.  Before Jesus, there was no Christianity.  So all of these institutions and myths and legends have all been created from us.  Some would say that Jesus was a real man, and to those of you who have recognized this, I would heartily agree.  But if you look closely even at Jesus in art over the centuries, you will see a changing face.  For example, did you know that when Byzantine art was at its apex, Jesus looked very different from what he looks like in our depictions today.  Jesus actually had no beard in these images.  Only later did Jesus show up as having a beard.  Why?  The answer has to do with how we invest images with meaning, and this is just how myths are in fact made.  So one culture who sees wise people as taking the time to shave their beards and remain clean-shaven, will naturally create images of their wise people as clean-shaven.  This was certainly the case in the example of Byzantine art that I just gave.  But that image changed.  Many times, in fact.  Jesus, today, is often depicted as a white anglo-saxon looking gentleman in white robes. This version was created by the very people that he wound up looking like.  If we were honest, Jesus would have been much darker skinned.  This is an act of creation, and I say that we need to keep all of our stories and institutions fresh so we know how to relate to them.  It's just how we are.

So at some point, everything we see in our culture was created.  It came THROUGH us.  Even magnificent books were themselves created through our hands.  Even the bible.  There is this joke that Moses wrote the bible, and while its funny, it still points to our tendency to want to invest people with the authority of having gotten the message straight from God or some other deity.  Moses probably was a good listener.  He was also likely a mystic, otherwise he never would have discovered the means to hear God speaking to him when everyone else was obviously unaware of anyone speaking.  Some want to think that God came to him as though a being outside of himself as evidenced in the burning bush experience and other instances where he heard God speak to him. But if God did this, why weren't there stories of how others heard who were in close proximity?  the truth here is we hear the divine, which has no body or means to speak to us save for through our one connection to that realm, through our souls.  In this place, we can color and create.  We put what fits us into those images.  Quite naturally, Moses was a leader, so his God would wind up being authoritarian by necessity in order to get those wandering ex-slaves to follow him to a better place.  And really, in all truth, if the God of Moses who was able to bring plagues and part the Red Sea, then this God would have been able to provide Moses and his people with a place to call their own.  And yet, even in wandering for 40 years in the desert, this side of the story has its colorful and storied explanation for why this had to be that way.  And its fantastic!  I am not kidding you here.  I am serious.  This is all a great act of creativity in motion and shows how we have all helped in our own way to support or even create myths and stories about ourselves that express aspects of who and what we are.

So knowing this, knowing that WE are the ones who create all of this, or are inspired to create it through divine inspiration, let's consider how we can be utterly creative and consider that all of our myths and stories could be remade into forms that suit us better.

For me, I'd really like to see the Garden of Eden be turned into an epic story with fewer black and white lines and more shades of gray.  I'd also like to think that the fruit was itself not forbidden, but known to be something that we all would lust after and seek since being an all-knowing God, God quite naturally KNEW that we'd probably go for the one that was forbidden.  Curious, we had to find out.  And what if the serpent was less an enemy of God and more an agent OF God?  After all, the Seraph, the angels from Judaic times, were all described as "fiery serpents" with wings.  Honestly, I think the serpent was once a symbol of wisdom and self-transformation as is evidenced in nearly every culture on the earth!  In the image below you see a serpent with wings from an Egyptian tomb, and we all know snakes do not have wings, so this was quite simply a creation in order to express an idea about what serpents were to us.  The thing, though, is that this idea, giving serpents wings was something that is native to the Hebrew, the Egyptian, the European, the Chinese and Japanese as well as the Mayan cultures.  Even in South America the serpent represents aspects of transformation, alchemy, and vital force.  In Europe, the stories of dragons depict them with wings.  Have we ever wondered why?  Clearly, there have been no known earth-bound lizards or dinosaurs of any size that had wings.  All of the dinosaurs who had wings were those that flew and were thus built for flight.  So were the dragons of our older years in Europe a remnant of the myth making of our ideas about serpents and what they represented to us way back then?  I bring this up as a way to illustrate a point, which is that its just as easy to see the serpent as beneficial.  What if there is a world where the serpent wasn't seen as the enemy?  If the Garden of Eden came to us by way of the Hebrews, then weren't these people enslaved by a people who revered the serpent?

You certainly see the serpent in Egyptian culture as an image of vital energy and spirituality because they sprout from the heads of Pharaohs and even Moses had a little duel with the Pharaoh of his day where his staff turned into a snake and ate the Pharaohs snake. Is it possible that the early Hebrews simply demonized the snake as a result of their dislike for their enslavers?  I do think this is entirely possible and even likely.  So if we consider this, could the snake have been something entirely different?  And if so, what could that snake have been?  When you remove the elements within you that see something in a negative light, you can see it in a different light.  So what if the serpent was a friend, not a foe?  Certainly the Hebrews saw the highest angelic order next to God as being winged serpents, the Seraph.

The truth is, we already have two stories of the Garden of Eden, if you can dare to believe it.  In one, the woman chose to leave of her own volition.  Her name was Lilith, not Eve, and in that story, the details are quite different!  So knowing this, seeing this for what it is, we see different currents of identification existing that tell another side of ourselves in these myths, these ancient stories that speak of who and what we are as a race and a people.   With Lilith, not much is known after she departs, but what if the creators had a longer story about her after she left the Garden?  What would that story say?  And instead of the version we have today of a woman who has been scorned for bringing so much trouble upon the race, was Lilith instead a pioneer, a free thinker, a powerful woman in her own right?  What IS the story of Lilith, then?   If we create these myths, then how might we have gone on to tell her story?  What if we were to do that today, right now?

I am illustrating myth-making in the making, you see.  Right here, right now, we create something new.  In doing so, what you will find is that engaging in this kind of creative act, you allow yourself sometimes to see things from a fresh perspective.  You embody your creations with something that is inside of you.  So given this, what could you create?  What could you weave and breath life into that speaks of your own soulfulness?  Do your myths represent an uncertain world full of gods and goddesses playing tit for tat or is your world filled with often misunderstood beings that in the end seek the best for you even if you aren't always aware that this is even so?  I know; the old myth of God saying not to eat the fruit was itself an example of that, but you see, I am not clinging to any belief system here.  I am not knocking any one's belief system, I am using some examples to show how we come up with things and give them a life of their own.  Our myths, you see, reflect values that we ourselves hold and in looking at those myths, you can learn things about yourself that you might not have even realized existed.  Otherwise, you might put no stock in such myths as they reside as mere fancifulness.

As for me, I think its time we got busy and made a few new myths of our own!  For certainly we are the makers of such things, so why not?

In The Garden

Many cultures on this green earth have this notion that humans have some glitch, some failing that makes them less than divine, a reason for being relegated to the backwater of some failed world. It expresses itself in a number of ways, but it comes up, in all truth, as a self loathing  behavior.  Gurus will express how this place is a backwater spiritually, and priests and priestesses will espouse how this is a less than enlightened world or place.  Others will speak of how we tripped ourselves up by eating some fruit we were told not to do.  Then we felt shame as a result of our nakedness.  We are a fallen species, somehow coming up short in the eyes of our deities.  This sense of falling short crops up from time to time in various traditions, and we need stories to help explain the feeling we have, and we project outward our own sense of failing.  I don't think we ever fell short.  We simply felt a disconnect between our individuality and our undivedness, unable to tap the larger sea of awareness that is inside of us. So we made a God or Goddess responsible for creating a standard which in truth we ourselves could not reach.  The glitch, all along, has been in perception, in awareness.  The sea of feeling has been there all along, we just have missed it, and in missing it, have believed it was somehow taken from us, or that we did something that made it go away.

While the stories help to explain the feeling, its a projection of what we think is wrong, and while the thinking is correct in the sense that something has been wrong, but what has been wrong is not some great failing in our character, but our inability to tap our larger sense of belonging.  All that ever happened was we felt separate through our focus on individuality, and through an over emphasis on ego, which is a natural result of over identifying with ego.  We lost that connection to the divine that we lived in all the time by not being able to balance our two modes of awareness and expression.  Its not something that we lose like we lose a ring or a note or a shoe.  We simply forgot where it existed.  Having forgotten, we began to think it lay outside of ourselves.  This has been the fatal flaw, if there ever was one, and while it sounds serious, its simple to get back to because its inside us.  Its always been with us.  We just forgot where it was.  We forgot how to feel. We have spun all kinds of stories that make sense to us for why we might have lost it, but the answer has always resided within waiting for us to realize where the glitch was.  Its so simple a thing that we have spent lifetimes trying to find it.  Its like the absent minded person looking all over for their keys when their keys are right in front of them.  We think someone took them, that some vast conspiracy intervened.  We merely forgot.

Its interesting that when you feel bad, guilt, or shame, the force behind kundalini will go down.  It can even stop completely.  The shame or guilt causes a disruption in the divine flow for those who do have kundalini.  Giving in and letting the bad feelings go restores the garden of bliss within.  You are again at one-ness with the divine.  It is a tantric experience, this connection, and because we have issues in feeling this good, we have sought to make such a feeling taboo.  Different cultures go about it differently, but the result is always the same it seems.  Its no surprise that we have connected our brokeness with our sexuality also because its our sexuality that is a gateway to bliss and wonder and joy, one of the very gateways to this sea of feeling, our touchstone to the infinite.  Having blocked our passage in this way, we have erected hurdles that we have felt were insurmountable.  Its true that we do need the divine to help us out of this, but the divine has never been something standing outside of us.  When a species has lost its way to its most central form of unity, its not unusual for all kinds of problems to arise as a result of the repression that comes with not knowing how to deal with it.

The truth as I have seen and felt it  is that finding the garden within is merely a breathe of fire away.  Breaking the seal, the fire spreads all through you as you feel the bliss pour through your body, is one important way to reach back to a place of deep feeling, of bliss and joy.  When we realized we were separate, we immediately felt put out of the garden where it didn't matter that we were naked.  It was, however,  a pretty crappy feeling, so it had to have some pretty dramatic events surrounding it in order to justify all the bad feelings involved. We have convinced ourselves since that God didn't want us, that we were put out for not doing as instructed.  All that we did was we did not continue to keep our earthly awareness on God.  Its that simple.  And God, Goddess, All That Is, doesn't hold any grudges.  Whatever God we conceived of back in the day has more to do with our own preconceptions of what a God is than what God is. If you want a clue into the love of the deity, consider the love a parent has for a child.  No matter what that child does, the love of that parent remains.  Its unconditional.  And we, as imperfect as we are, are able to taste what the love of a god might be.  But even that gets messed up and distorted with ideas of how we can never truly know the love of a god because we are such simple and broken beings.  The deeper truth is that we are born of this deity and have its truth swimming all through us.  Our individuality, though, can serve to block awareness of this higher range of perception.  We have to want to surrender to what this love is, the simplest and most fundamental force in the universe.  It is this force which I was shown years ago that holds the entire universe together.  It is literally coded into every particle in the universe.  This is why Adam and Eve are so important.  They are the archetypes of our own inner masculine and feminine.  When you can bring these two fields of energy into a unity within, you will feel the pulse of the universe.  Every atom, every electron, every life form, every cell, is ordered around the yin and yang. All along every form, every particle, every person simply wants deep down to be drawn into entanglement, into unity.  Our individuality, though, seems to keep them apart.  Separation is the death of our bliss.

The entire universe is held together, glued as it were, with this force of attraction.  The entanglement of photons is the same entanglement of souls, and when our physicists examine what entangled photons do, we can see the exact same result in people who have themselves become entangled within the world of the quantum field of the infinite mind or divine awareness.  We all are brought into relationship through this force.  It also brings mere matter into a complex relationship with itself that can bring forth life.  None of this is chance.  Its part of an integrating principle of being, of all existence.  When enough entanglement can happen, given the right set of circumstances, life blooms out of what some would say is a simple merging of all the right compounds entirely by chance, except its not by chance, but by design. Life is itself another expression of creativity.  It is the result of simpler forms uniting to create something still larger, grander.

When we can heal the separation within, we are more available to this larger field of awareness and being.  This is not a destination, but a process of becoming that has no end.  If you seek an end-game, you wont find it.  Life is a  journey, and if there were some end point, the universe would stagger under the eventual force of stagnation, which would be an eventual result of such an end-game.  There are still larger and larger dimensions, all without end, infinite in scope, of becoming, a still larger scope of feeling through realization.  As we realize our connectedness, we reach into still larger realms, still larger dimensions of connection to ourselves as infinite beings. As we spread out into that vast web of awareness, we begin to realize it is a thread with no end as we seek to further integrate still larger aggregations of being and awareness, realizing in still larger scopes of reality.  We are simply growing into what we already have been, always were, but always with a growing awareness which brings growing perception and fulfillment.  There is truth, though, that through our individuality and through some basic limits to our physiological mirroring of the infinite, that we bump up against a sense of being individual, but we mistake that individuality as separate.

I think the truth to all of this is that we feel shame and sadness over our imperfection.  This "gentle" loathing leads to some rather punishing behavior.  It leads to hellish experiences as a result of feeling so cut off from everything.  The thing is, though,  if you knew the love of the divine, you would realize it was all a silly misunderstanding.  We are unconditionally loved, cherished, by that which is our broader being, the Source of all Life, whatever form that might take.  I think understanding your true relationship with the divine is important in understanding just how close the divine is to you.  In this moment, in each breath.  It is always You who have sought to set yourself apart from the Source, for the love of Source is so grand and perfect, it would never seek to put you outside the realm of its love and affections.

I think in all truth, our perception of time messes us up here.  It give us a feeling of seperataness in events.  This grows into still larger things, or feelings of the distinctness of everything.  Its an easy step into separation and sadness from there.  And shame and all the other things that go along with this.  If you have had a transcendent experience, you very likely felt like time was a bit irrelevant in a sense.  INSIDE of time, it seems, is a still larger truth about time, which is that it expands outward in an infinite way, what many who have had a near death experience describe as an expanding present, or an infinite present, or simply a feeling of the infinite.  Outside of our physical perceptions, I think that there IS no time, or time becomes less and less important as a way to experience reality and thus falls away.  Many who have had kundalini awakenings have themselves expressed how all of this awakens them to a deeper perception of time.  Yes, there are all these linear events happening here, one right after the other, but there is a deeper sense that there is something more.

I have written on numerous occasions about the great benefit of realizing that you can see across all time or in that expanding present.  If there is no time, your soul exists in perfection, already complete in a sense, yet always in a state of becoming in a realizing of what was already there, a process that is itself, I content, the very act of becoming aware to your own divine being and higher self.  Becoming more aware in this way will open you to a greater awareness of yourself as already complete, perfect, and alive in a sea of love too wonderful to perhaps contemplate.  I say this because we have so much grief and shame and guilt over ourselves. The thing though is that what is causing that grief and bad behavior is the fact that we are so cut off from everything.  We forget who and what we are.  The path back to the garden is by becoming naked again, and not feeling shame.  Your sexuality is an expression of a very profound creative impulse.  Gurus and sages and other aspirants from every possible tradition on earth have been able to harness this energy which is itself just the divine bliss flowing through you for incredible work.  In the end, its all the same stuff.  The fact that we would feel such shame over our so-called "Animal" impulses just shows the disconnect we have with what the divine has brought us, has made for us. Certainly, we do need to be good and thoughtful and compassionate.  But when you ARE full of compassion, you aren't going to use sexuality as a weapon, or to hurt someone.  You wont.  You will BE this divine love so powerfully that its much more likely that people wont understand you and will think you strange (like all awakened leaders).  But it wont be a force for hurting others.

Our fall from grace was simply a feeling like we were not good enough.  I think it was ego very likely that was involved in it.  We slowly fell away from the divine pulse and then blamed ourselves for not being good enough....which is in a way true, but not a good enough reason to stay outside of the love of the divine, which isn't experienced as some objective deity but is the energy snaking through you, setting you on fire, making you wake up and come alive in the midst of an awakening.

The Hopi Indians have this story about our distant past.  They explain that we used to have this opening in the top of our heads that connected us to the whole of the universe. We were able to sense and feel through this opening in a way that we no longer do as well.  They explain in this story that we slowly had that connection lost while being physical.  Its interesting that there wasn't an effort to inject a sense of failing in this story, but instead seems much more matter of fact. Still, we need explanations.  The sense remains in so many cultures that we somehow got cut off.  My sense through my experience is that all of matter has been encoded with the divine within it.  As individuals we have free will, and this can lead to a sense of being separate.  Perhaps its possible to simply feel into our swirling world of atoms and cells, all busy utilizing the field of attraction, as a way of learning to tap this lost world of our belonging.  As it is in each particle, it is within us.  We yearn to be part of something more, of something larger.  We know we are more, but we also have this individuality that seems to compete with it.  Perhaps we are just trying to get the mix right, to find a way to harmonize the yin and yang, the small self with the big self, to bring the infinite into the moment again so we might feel more connected. Until then, we look outside ourselves until something comes along that makes us look inside in a way we may have never done so before.

Awakenings are, I think, an opportunity to step back into the garden, to heal this rift in us, this ancient shame we have had whose ONLY purpose has been to keep us sealed off from the divine.  Whatever the problem is, whatever the bad things done, none of it matters in the face of this perfect love.  And if you can FEEL this perfect love, it will transform you.  You will suddenly come in from the cold like some prodigal child who realizes s/he never really needed to be out there to begin with, and all this time could have been partaking in the great bread of life.

We aren't dirty and fallen.  We just think we are.  We have spun stories that have kept us marinating in this sense of fallen-ness  It has brought a veil of forgetting and illusion upon us, a legacy that we have chanted and sung in our churches and temples for thousands of years.  We are not walking very close to the garden wall and we just have to realize that the wall was never put there to keep us out.  You are amazing, and beautiful.  Each soul is a perfect diamond.  It has such stunning facets, is so excruciatingly beautiful you just would not believe.  Looking into the heart of the world, you will feel a nursery planet full of children who years to be with their parents, to feel the love they have been missing all this time, to feel the pat on their heads that says that all is okay, that YOU are okay....and good enough.  It does not good to hide in shame of how powerful this energy is.  Its what the universe is, its what the Deity is, so why deny it?  Why not revel in it?  It bring nothing but bliss and wonder.  Its a bit much to take, I will admit, but I think this is just getting used to 24/7 bliss.  This is the healing of that old wound in us.  C'mon.  Come be a part of the family.  You deserve it.  Every particle, every atom, every cell and planet and person and galaxy is worth it.  Its all beloved.  We are all slices from that great bread of life, infinitely divided, yet indivisible too.  Its both.  And its wonderful. We aren't one or the other.  We are BOTH individual and infinite. Perhaps its time to learn to balance the two, to bring them into synthesis.  And perhaps this synthesis is the healing of the self....which bring the yin and yang together into a unity and when that happens, kundalini emerges.  But that too is one step in a still larger spiraling stairway.  It goes on and on, and as you step upwards, you slowly but surely shed the old notions and rise or ascend into something truly marvelous.

Come on out of the cold rain.  Its just not worth it.  You are already perfect, and the company is really fine.  Its time that you know your divine parentage which is not separate from you at all.  Never was, save through your belief and shroud of shame and sorrow.  The secret is in feeling.  And its waiting for you, as it waits for all of us.

The Loveself

Kundalini is about mastery over your subconscious. This mastery, though, is less the lion-tamer and more the loving gentle lamb.It is also about love, and this love is experienced in a myriad of ways.  What we experience, though, in Awakening, is how our very consciousness begins a tantric dance with the universe, one which reveals just how infused the universe is with passion.  The degree to which we have separated ourselves from this fundamental level of experience is the degree to which we have removed ourselves from our Essential Selves.  An Awakening will begin to reacquaint you with this ocean of bliss until you learn to remove all the layers until you stand completely free, naked, with your Essential Self with is this very passionate being that is love.  This is your Loveself and it is what you have always been underneath. No need to be embarrassed, or feel shame. In fact, shame and fear and all of those feelings have been the problem.  Now its time to heal and remove those layers.  You have always been there, shining through all of that stuff.

For lifetimes, your soul has been sending parts of itself into physical reality.  Over and over, these different selves have made a range of choices, and often these have been similar choices, choices that have caused some behaviors to become ingrained.   Each time, that which remained unresolved, would get played over and over because the earthly self would, by virtue of  its own freewill, choose something based on something that was foreign to your essential self, to that part that you might call your larger destiny.  It chose to be with someone who would not love them perfectly, who would hurt them, or who would not feel the right way.    Whatever the particular flavor of the karmic entanglement, these kinks in the self can became deep ruts and would be recorded in your being as a karmic entanglement, less because the world was hard or hurtful but more because something in you was not finding its alignment with your divine being.  So over and over, this misalignment would play itself out until whatever it was that had been the cause of the problem got resolved.  Over and over this played out, lifetime after lifetime these issues would come up with the opportunity to work through them, less as a test, and more because of how the universe is ordered, which is not that its punishing or judgemental, but because you and the universe are realy one, and being one, this universe aligned with your expectations of it.  You simply attracted what you were.  This is hard for most people to take, to accept because, after all, none of us would have ever sought or chosen for bad things to happen to us, right?  Still, though, the truth remained all along that the traumas that you experienced, the trials and tribulations all resolved around that which you were unresolved about, that served to hurt you because they simply were never anything that was in your highest.  This is the missalignment, this is the source of all trouble, problems, and suffering.  Its less about expectation as buddha said, that cuases the suffering, its that the expectation that our earthly selves sometimes choose over and over that cause the problem.  This is the seed of our growing up, of our maturation and coming to the one undel=niable truth of our being.  If you want the world to change, it is you who much change.  The old argument must cease, and the way of your feeling must change so that the old argument simply is no longer important.  No one knows this better than I. I struggle with this all the time, and is the eseence of all that I am dealing with in my awakening.  It is also what everyone struggles with.  Eventually, like small children, we learn to set aside those things that we thought were important in favor of something still deeper.  If you want to call this the illusion that some speak of as being part of life, Maya, then so be it.

I will say as an aside that I do not feel that this makes our lives here merely illusory.  This notion must change if we are to be able to take in the fullness of this experience here.  This world is not illusory, but real.  This world is a CREATION, and it is this one element in our greater being that is the one great truth; we are CREATORS.  We are seeded with this impulse, and it is what has made worlds to form.  These worlds are the means by which we work through the very thorny issues of our becoming.  This is very important, very critical to our becoming.  If we then don masks in this play, as Shakespeare suggested, and the world is a stage for this greater inner drama to unfold, then it makes this place an important one for us and all of life.  It is a way for us to come to know ourselves, to evolve, to develop.  Its only by healing the rift that we have felt all along about our place here that we will learn to come to a better place within ourselves and with the universe both expressed (or created) and residing in potential.  When we can see how everything is delicately wedded to everything else, will we see or feel how we are not separate at all.  Certainly an awakening is all about showing us how everything is connected instead of separate.   By understanding how we create our world moment by moment based on how we feel, believe, and what still remains as that hitch inside that keeps us from a developing sense of unity with ourselves, our higher being, and the universe, can we begin to resolve the separation.

If you look back at Western culture through the lens of Christianity, you will see a story of a Fall that happened in the very beginning.  This is where we can trace in a mythic way, the source of our misgivings and thus separation with creation.  If you understand that there is no God that is angry, ready to punish you for being who you are or for not obeying the commands of this God, then you can begin to understand that this Fall was one which we ourselves created.  Somewhere, a sense of falling short entered into us, perhaps somewhere where we felt our individuality and our egos perhaps too much, more than what I call our own Waveform Awareness, which is that part of our experience where we transcend beyond the particle of the self and move into unity with all other particles (be they atomic or cosmic) and into the vast being that makes up the Collective Awareness and touches upon our infinite being, upon the universe of which we are all a part.  Somewhere, though, we fell out of that Wave and into the Particle.  When we did that, we forgot who we were in completeness.  Then the grief, the sadness, the suffering began.  We felt shame and we felt naked.  Instead of being connected with the vast intelligence teeming all around us, nature became something to be conquered.  Nature also became something that we no longer trusted.  We did not speak to the animals, they did not hear us and they feared us.  We also had reason to fear them.  We lost something very important.  We saw their animal nature as something not to be trusted and this meant that  our own animal natures could not be trusted.  Our natural impulses were seen as dirty and shameful instead of arising out of that vast Wave of Creative energy that is the essence of Awakening and our greater being.  This all happened and we made a myth of it as a way to explain to ourselves why we felt the way we did.  We also served to ingrain an old wrinkle in our psyches with a story that would be handed down from one generation to the next only reinforcing those greatest of fears.  And here, the separation was never made more brilliant and certain; man and woman were pitted against one another in a distrustful way in the same way that they had chosen to distrust their own divine natures.  Men were made to toil and women would bear the weight of what this distrust encompassed.  Whew!  What a way to get started!  So little wonder that we have the trouble that we do.  Time, then, to work through this so that all the old stuff can be made peace with and the separation healed within us.

When an Awakening stirs in you, all of these old issues get brought to the surface.   It will be through such an experience that you may begin to glimpse just how attached you became with the hurt in your pasts that mirrors your own present experiences.  The universe mirrors you also, so events will happen based on who and what you are.  If you have issues related to abundance (see the root chakra), nurture, mothering, and taking care of one's self, there are often issues lodged in the vibrational frequency range of the root, for example. It can be in other places through your energetic self, certainly, but will often tend to cluster around a specific area in you because of the particular vibratory frequency associated with the specific problem you have.  Every issue will have a certain frequency, and will tend to reside in a given part of your energy body.  An awakening bring awareness of this, and will point you to certain areas where there is pain...not so much in the physical body (although it can manifest as physical pain and sometimes even physical problems) as it is in your consciousness. This is where we can get very quickly into diagrams and systems, but the thing to remember is that this is just about a return to love.  When you find yourself having trouble, getting tangled up in the harder aspects of awakening, all you really have to do is breathe deep and ask yourself what this is all about.  Its about LOVE.  That's it.  You don't need to know any more.  If you make it too complicated, it can squeeze out the love.  Can you love?  Good. Want to talk about how consciousness is ordered and how healing plays into it?  Ok.  But its better to just feel the love. This alone will heal and smooth those hard surfaces.  There are a lot of hard people who have awakened, and they think they have softened, but this is all a matter of relativity and awareness.  You can soften more.  Your soul is crying out for a still deeper experience, and you need to give yourself to it in surrender if you are to know true happiness with your soul. This is because your soul IS love.   The soul is simply love, and the closer we get to it, the more powerful this feeling is.

The feeling of being free from your old hurts is because of how close we have moved to your soul. Some will want to think they are experiencing God, but in truth, you are experiencing your soul as it is connected to everything else.  Its pretty amazing, really.  And if it can feel like this, imagine what the universe might well be deeper down. This comes about in a permanent way when you learn to release those old unresolved feelings, those kinks in your self that keep you from feeling your higher self, your Essential Self.  This is about learning to align to your divine self.  Divine Alignment.

There is a lot to learn.....and its simpler than a system.  By learning how to feel differently, you find the sacred path to your soul.  You also set up a vibration that the universe will form itself around you with, mirroring you perfectly.  Because your soul exists outside of time, it feel infinite to you.  Call it God or Goddess, whatever you want....the Cosmic Muffin...it all works....because this loveself does not need to prove anything but simply be, your way of being with this is in a quiet and uncomplicated way.  In a sense, all it is asking of you is to jump into the water.  Overcome your fear.  Overcome your inward brittleness and stiffness.  Flow with this water, flow like the ocean of being. This is because you ARE this ocean.  There is nothing else you need to know.  Oh, and just be happy. The war is over.  All of that attachment to hurt and trauma, it can be over in an instant.  Moment by moment, you learn to change the future, and you also change your association with a past that is now being changed as surely as your present is being changed.  Think how incredibly powerful this act can be.

As you do this, you make it easier for others, whether you are aware of it or not.  It is certainly what happens in the midst of the quantum field of effects.  As each person makes their own discovery, they add to the vast ocean of awareness that each awakened person is swimming in right NOW.  You shift the world with each act, and you can also make it easier for others to awaken in a way they might not have done so otherwise.  It might be one grain of sand, but we are billions in size and we are motivated via the web of the All.  This might sound a bit silly to you, but understand that nothing has ever been more true, and in so being, you must know that you can bid the tsunami to come and move your world if you need for it to. It will change and take any form you need it to, for the universe aligns with your expectations, especially those expectations which are subconscious, unresolved, pushed deep down inside of you out of shame or fear or any number of things that your karma has served to create in the choices you have made through how you have felt (conscious or not).  This is one reason why becoming aware of all your inner junk or your old baggage is important; you can live a much more rewarding life when you are more in control of what it is you believe and feel.  Since the universe forms itself around these feelings, then how you feel has never been so important.  An awakening helps to dredge the depths, and as we do, we have lots of very fertile compost with which to build a more verdant life built on what we need deep down than just the surface and what has remained troublesome and misunderstood.  The universe is conforming to your expectations of it micro second by microsecond....

You see, even if you never help another, your own experience will itself be available in an entirely perfect way to others. If you chose as I have often felt impelled to do, to slip quietly into the ocean and drift from shore, from this world and into other realms of brilliant potentiality, it would not be a loss what you would otherwise perhaps give had you stayed.  Through the potential of the Wave, that part of the experience of awakening that leads you to that different way of being where you feel yourself flowing into everything, where you feel the connection of your energy with that of the leaf, the flower, the atoms of air, and all things present and implied, obvious and subtle.  It is this part that you are able to tap the limitlesness within you.  It is here that you learn to feel differently.  And just as I was told by someone who showed up in my awareness at a certain stage of my awakening, this person said, "there is nothing more for you to do except to step into the blueprint that has been brought to bear in this time. The efforts of countless pilgrims, sages, priests and priestesses, all have unknowingly and in their own small ways, helped to contribute to what you now have before you.  There is nothing to be done except to step into this blueprint that was fashioned by Collective Consciousness, through Collective Effort."  It seemed rediculously simple at the time, but this is just how we find change in awakening; we simply choose to be different.  Its not hard work once we get there, its just a sideward move, a step to the side and the world changes. Ego thinks it has to be all this work.  Beneath it all resides what has been, waiting to be brought into greater awareness by divesting of that which held up our attention and energy.  By focusing energy in areas that are healthier for us individually, we can feel the divine flow within us more clearly and more powerfully. Instead of seeing it all through karmic lenses, we see through a nice clean and clear window....which is our birthright.  Its what we are destined to do.  Without time tables or expiration dates, the infinite expands outward.  We expand with it if we are just brave enough to let go, opening ourselves up to swift hands of divinity that can do great work for us.

By opening up to the possibilities that this world offers, we can rediscover the self that we are.  Its what we have always been.  We are learning to grow up.  But unlike C.S. Lewis, who was biased by his own lack of healing and a belief that suffering is God's way of helping us to grow, we can learn to see it differently:  suffering is what we have brought on ourselves.  Since we have freewill, and since this freewill is so important to the deity, that being wont interfere with what we choose. We learn to reap what we sow, and by learning to sow differently, we come closer to that deity, to our own relationship with it.  The truth is, the universe is love, but its not a love that is on any kind of crusade for or against us.  All of this, we have created.  It is now time to return to the garden.  It is within you and me.  It is in all of us and it is within our ability to find it if we can but remove some of the old brush that has grown up around what will resolve into perfect beauty for us, in us, through us. This is where we heal and find union with our divinity.  How wonderful is that?
