Its Afoot...

Today is a gift.  Another day that I get to spend working on my book.  I am taking a break from writing in order to write. I just finished a section that had to do with larger effects across the Collective Consciousness that are happening currently.  And it is exciting.

I can remember those early days of awakening where I looked out through new windows, a returned sense of perception. I sensed I could feel the collective awareness, knew I was doing this now, and in sensing it, could feel, like a pulse, what was moving in the Collective Awareness.  I had never heard of anyone sensing in this way so I kept quiet about it for a while except for my closest of friends like Alison who has been experiencing this since she was young.  About six months ago while visiting my grandmother I listened to an interview with U.G. Krishnamurti when I had little to do in the house where I was staying.  Krishnamurti was describing the same thing I had experienced and said how we awaken to this state, less of just the individual and more of the Collective Consciousness. “Yes, yes!” I thought, “like shifting gears from one singular focus to a much larger focus which now makes up the whole of my experience now….”

What I experienced in those early days was a very clear awareness that something was afoot!  It was!  All these beings, people, all awakening!  I could feel them like stars shimmering against the dark coat of night….each pulsation having its effect on the whole.  A giant webwork, a network of being that was becoming conscious at this level!  What I felt within this was how the Collective felt “pregnant” with awakening, that the incident of awakening would expand.  You could just FEEL it.  It wasn’t rocket science, it wasn’t something hard to get at, at least I didn’t think so.  As I observed it seemed that more and more younger people were waking up all in a more spontaneous way, or with the barest of triggers.  What I feel now is a feeling of something rolling out, unfolding.  In some ways, I have focused much more on my own process, on me, instead of looking out into the Collective.  I think at the time this new feeling felt novel so I spent a lot of time just poking it and feeling around inside of it like some new skin.  I know, that probably sounded weird.  At least it isn’t an old bear skin or something…

Something is being birthed.

After about two years of experiencing kundalini, I had this feeling like there was something more, and that some of the ideas that people were saying about soul connections, twin souls, just didn’t make sense to me anymore.  The idea that kundalini yoga being the only way to wake up was obviously proven incorrect since I had done so without it or without any discernible practice.  I mean, yes, I had my own form of meditation which I had used for years, but I never read up on it, I never followed anyone’s method or technique.  I was a do-it-yourselfer;  DIY kundalini!   And then kundalini shifted into a whole new gear, ripping me to shreds pretty much (or so it felt—I was actually just resisting it…that happens when you resist the waves instead of surf them!).  Tsunami waves broke apart the old me and left the core of me on the beach to decide what was next.  As I struggled through this portion of the process I was visited by someone I call “my zen guy” and who wound up looking like an actual zen master named Taishen Deshimuru.  I mention it because of just how similar he appeared, although the living Taishen died about two decades ago….This was what I was writing about in my book just a few moments ago….

But anyway…..zen guy.  I was feeling this hard spot inside of me and it caused me sadness and upset.  He came to me and sat down to my side asked me “Why do you struggle?  Don’t you know that all of this is happening just as it should?  Don’t you realize that all of the monks and followers and aspirants all through the ages have each unwittingly had their effect by helping to create what is here now?  Each devotional prayer has helped to shape this template and now it is ready for you and all of your kind to simply step into it.  This is not a crevass to jump.  It is like stepping outside.  It is one small step.  You only need to step into it to inhabit it, to be it. “  After he said that, it seemed such a simple thing; like all of this was about stepping out of an old suit of clothes into one that fit  better.  Thus began my thinking in terms of the Collective not just as something I felt but that was now a tangible part of life experience.  On the one hand, it all seemed so big and formidable, but on the other, it seemed to simple.  We get to choose whether we want it easy or hard, since we are creating it.   We can, in the words of someone I recently read — we can “unfuck the world.”  I know perhaps it sounds  bit indelicate, but this is what is happening.  We are loosening the threads that bind us and freeing ourselves…..person by person.  Can you feel the sweet air of freedom?

Now, back to writing!

Letting Go

I have written on my other blog about the nature of how consciousness works, or at least one aspect. I think its an important one because it can lead to powerful change in one’s life.  The concept here is that consciousness has a duality of sorts, and it mirrors the particle/wave duality seen in physics.  Imagine that all you have known in your life has been the result of your individual or particalized awareness.  Within this well defined soap bubble, or particle of being, are all your memories, all your experiences, and all of your feelings about how everything has gone down. In this soap bubble, others’ awareness does not enter in, nor does the universe impinge upon your awareness.  Further, your beliefs about how things are based on your experience tells you that you are a nice soap bubble and nothing more.  The world happens to you.  You are the result of random chemical reactions in the physical universe.  At a certain point, though, something happens.  You reach a place where your individual bubble looks for more, aware subconsciously that there IS more, and the thin wall that separates you from the universe wears thin.  At a point this wall breaks down and you become aware of the universe rushing in. Perhaps more truthfully, your own bubble merges with a larger aspect of itself, with other bubbles, other particles, and this results in forming a wave.  Up to this point, your focus on your individuality, so persistent, has excluded anything like this from happening but now you can feel beyond your bubble to a much larger aspect of your being which seems or feels very different.

You are suddenly a drop in a vast ocean, a giant wave of awareness. You are able to become more than you were before. This is not some ego trip, but a simple aspect of your being that simply was never experienced.  As you do this, as you align to the universe, all of the issues within your individual self that are not in harmony or alignment with this larger universal consciousness, are stirred up, made more obvious.  Your awareness grows about these “problems” within the individual self.  They can be translated as pain or tension.  Its like walking into a room and hearing two people singing. One person has perfect pitch, will always have perfect pitch, and this other self, which is your individual self, is off key.  When you hear this happening, it becomes incredibly obvious.  Prior to this, though, you were happily singing off key and not realizing that you were “off” by a little. The presence of this universal self who has perfect pitch makes you more aware of where you are of on the perfect harmony with the higher awareness.  This is what an awakening does.  It points these things out, and if you are brave and willing, you can release these disharmonious elements in order to learn to become something more than when all of this started.

Doing this requires an act of inner alchemy.  How do you do this?  Many know its releasing old patterns, but its not always widely understood.  Its possible, I think, that much of it is not something you work through but that you simply do. Its not a thinking thing, not something you parse like so much data.  It not mental. Its reaching into your more emotional feeling self for those things that have hung you up time and time again but that you were powerless or unaware of how to change.  When you release these notions and feelings about how the world is or how YOU are, something magical happens. Like layers of clothing, these things you thought defined you and made you what you were, slip away in the night.  Ego has a real problem with this, but as you let it slip into the background, it becomes easier to let it all go. When this does, something that had been with you forever is now gone.  Maybe its a recurring theme in your relationships that keeps you in a state of dissatisfaction over how the people wind up being.  Or it might be something related to abundance in your life.  It could be any number of things.  Ultimately, it all resolves back to self love. When you can love yourself, you can love more perfectly because being the universe as well as your individual self, you can begin to mirror this love in the universe in which you find yourself.  It might seem magic, but its a simple law of the universe that the universe will mirror back to you what you presently have within you.  When you let go of something for good, the universe is now reflecting based on fewer problems in the self and more of what the universe is, or can be for you as your universal self steps forward.

This is an important aspect that I am dealing with in the book I am writing Waking The Infinite.  How do we help ourselves to reach this place of perfect pitch?  How do we learn how to feel differently so we can release what we have for so long been attached to?  By letting go, we are able to finally find what is the best for us, and as we do, the world resolves from a world of hurt, to a world of love.  This is not a love that is predicated on anything, but is the very fabric of the universe.  Its about growing up in a real sense, to see what its like to take on the “adult” self which is this universe that is full of this love and that fills you with such bliss upon awakening.  This energy becomes unzipped, releasing orgasmic energy throughout the whole body.  It changes the physiology, and it offers a new way to be.  Its less that its just sexual as sexuality is but one aspect of this energy, which is at its root creative, and creativity has always been something that was meant to be pleasurable.  It is this because it is in perfect alignment with the universe.  Certainly you can create horrors, but you have the freewill to create based on something more in alignment with the light that shines in us all.  Shadow causes us problems, light brings us to fulfillment and peace.  The task is letting go of the things, the shadow, which always results in still more shadow (the law of attraction at work).  By bringing in more light, more light is attracted.  And so this builds to the degree that the individual self is able to let go and surrender to this vast realm of being. When we do, a new world emerges.  The world literally begins to look and act differently.  Aren’t we all seeing the same world?  I don’t think so.  And I don’t think its JUST how we feel that makes the difference, but how we change frequency and thus are freed up to see still larger dimensions of being right in front of us.  This, I suspect, is the essence of all of this 2012 stuff.  Its reaching a point of critical mass where human kind has on offer a new world within and without….realizing all along that there was no difference between the world and us.  We ARE the world and the world is us.  As a result, when you change yourself, you change the world.

Magic!

A New Earth

As I drove from my home in the blue ridge mountains into an area called the Piedmont, I was given a view of just how incredible this world can be.  The rolling hills of the blue ridge gave way to a very different kind of landscape, one which I knew for years before moving back to the gentle mountains of my home.  As I drove on thoughts moved through me as my drive became like a moving meditation.  Powered by gnosis, the brilliance of awakening showered me with questions and considerations about the nature of the world, of reality, and how we are able to see what is around us.

The big question was over what world we live in.  Is it really as solid as it all seems, or is it like some suggest, an illusion?  A dream within the divine?  As I thought about the old notion of how we see and respond to things, I was reminded that some very much see the world in a very matter of fact way.  Like a large canvas, we have seen what others have seen for aeons.  In the picture I snapped as the day was waning over the first big ridge of the Blue Ridge on my return to them, there is not a person to be seen, or building.  Was this the same sight that the Shawnee and Cherokee saw hundreds of years ago?  Or, is it possible that while there is a place we all agree upon as being the same place, still resolves differently for those who are able to see into some new dimension?

The suggestion was nuanced.  It was so packed with everything that it felt like a giant closet of possibilities.  There is an earth, but she is evolving.  We are evolving and we pick up on new things as we do. And as we do, the earth literally does change, does offer up a new version of itself, realizing itself through each individual's eyes and hearts.  This place was a series of earths, all depending on who is doing the perceiving.  What I sensed rising deep within is that every moment is like a flower blooming.  As each petal is pushed back by a new one further inward, we see something new.  But we don't just see it, we feel it. The added dimension is in feeling, in consciousness itself.  This alters everything.  Dirty city streets can resolve into hidden paradises.  The same old mountain range becomes a new range never seen before.  The dimension of knowing, feeling, seeing, and being, all merge in that moment to create a new synthesis and as that happens, it feeds back into us with wonder, joy, and awe.

I wrote recently about an experience I had early on before I had my first full-fledged awakening in which I felt myself drawn into the world of plant life.  All of life changed in that moment.  Before, I had seen the world in a certain way, almost like an outsider, not fully connected.  With this new experience, everything did change for me as I felt the pulse of life all around me locally and remotely. While I had had the notion that plants were intelligent creatures, much more aware than we gave them credit for, I hadn't felt it.  It was an experience in what I can only call direct cognition.  There was no way my senses could apprehend all of this, but my soul could.  This was the new dimension of awareness, and it changed how I saw all of life forever.  Suddenly the world was more than just a hive of activity.  It had a soul, it had a presence, it had a life beyond what most presume to think they know.  I stood in my back yard then, kids over for a birthday sleep-over, and we burned a bunch of sticks for a nice bon fire  As I watched the flames lick up into the sky it felt as though some invisible line had crossed overhead in the heavens.  I knew I had changed irrevocably.  It was at once a little sad and a little scary.  What on earth was I embarking?  it felt undeniable, impossible to change.  I was on this new ride and there was no changing it!  The heavens had clicked off in some new direction for me.  A new timeline, a new probability was forged in that moment.  Since then, life has been nothing but a series of changes and challenges and hurdles.  In her slumber, the earth awakens as if on cue as do we all.

As I drove up that long mountain from the Piedmont back into the Blue Ridge mountains, it became ever clearer that the world indeed resolves into countless earths, a collective earth, the earth as she is, and the earth as we all participate in.  All versions were valid.  One layer was the same earth, other layers were also the same earth, but different versions or aspects of material just waiting to be picked up on.  It was possible, they said, to see the world anew and to be utterly changed by it.  We are all doing this.  We are coming back to the earth as a very vital part of our lives, and this is a good shift to have happen in this day and age.  Its as if the old pagans are coming back for another round of worship, and this time its with the stamp of an expanding knowledge that includes quantum physics, string and brane theory.  The world becomes so many things because its limitless.  Why, it asked, would I consider that we were limitless while the earth remained the same for all?  That's because it too is limitless and just like us, is also evolving in its own way.  For a brilliant moment I held all of this inside of me and it felt so full, so hopeful and perfect, that I felt like I had seen a view no one else had before. Within each of us is that bud that is waiting to open up.  As we open, so does the earth.  Yes, we see more of what was always there, but in seeing it, something happens.  Something is changed.  There is a stamp made upon the species, upon the earth.  Earth is reminded of who she is in fullness when we can begin to see it and feel it.  We are reminded of what we are when her life force fills us as our first mother, and cradle of life here on this blue orb spinning through space.

This felt like a real expansion of something, and while I do poorly to explain precisely what happened and the amazing richness of it (none of this was an academic mental exercise as I was experiencing it as it all unfolded much like some kind of real world multimedia presentation that was also a classroom exercise in learning about reality and the world around me), what happened was so significant in its own simple but complex way that it resulted in a kind of snapping back of consciousness.  I actually felt a kind of fear or shadow following the next day.  Once I realized this was some kind of egoic compensation, I relaxed and everything normalized.  I wondered if others do this and I thought surely they must. It made sense to go easy on ourselves, to simply watch as all this happens, note, but not get too caught up in it.  Its almost like when one old layer is removed, we tend to pull out of in a reflexive way.  We are funny creatures....on our way to the promised realm.

The world can resolve into a wonderful display.  The world, changing and shifting inside of us is the world that is shifting outside of us.  How beautiful is that?  And coming over the mountains I saw this vast expanse of forest that went on for miles and slowed the car down long enough to snap the picture above.

I hope that as you notice the world changing right in front of you, you can feel into this and sense the great possibility on offer in such moments like these.  Every moment seems packed with them, like seed pods waiting to burst and become.
